Horrible Bosses Round 2

Horrible Bosses 2 does not deliver like the first.  There are some laughs to be had but clearly not enough.

Jason Bateman and Jason Sudeikis just don’t seem as funny as they were in the first.  A trend I’ve noticed with comedies is that every several years certain comedians don’t seem to adapt to the comedic world.  They get stuck doing basically the same jokes over and over in their films.  For example, Adam Sandler hasn’t made anything worth watching in years that doesn’t seem recycled from his previous filmography.  Sudeikis is in a position that seems to be dangerously close to that.  Bateman still has solid dramedies working out for him but his straight up comedies seem to be heading the same direction as well.  Charlie Day is just fucking hilarious to me.  Day’s loud and insane characters just go perfectly overboard.  Jennifer Aniston is great in her return as Day’s raunchy, sex addict ex-boss as is Kevin Spacey as Bateman’s psychopathic ex-boss.  Jamie Foxx also returns as the not-so-gangster gangster “Motherfucker” Jones which they slightly expand on.  Throw into the mix Christoph Waltz and Chris Pine as a ruthless father and son duo who barely get along with themselves and don’t care about ruining lives.  There’s also a nice cameo from Jonathan Banks of Breaking Bad fame.  If you’re on the lookout for something mindless to watch  with some decent laughs then this will work out.
